Senior Estimator

About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a highly respected and fast-growing construction contractor delivering projects across a diverse range of sectors including Commercial, Industrial & Logistics, Life Sciences, Data Centres, Fit-Out & Refurbishment, Leisure and Retail. The business has built a reputation for quality, collaboration, technical excellence and long-term client partnerships, with a strong pipeline of secured and negotiated work.

Due to continued growth and increasing project opportunities, we are seeking a commercially astute Senior Estimator to play a key role in securing and winning new projects while supporting the strategic growth of the business.

The Role
Reporting to the Pre-Construction Director, you will be responsible for managing the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission and contract award.
Working closely with operational, commercial and design teams, you will prepare accurate and competitive cost plans while identifying value engineering opportunities and mitigating project risks.

Key Responsibilities
 
Lead and manage the estimating function on major construction tenders.
Review tender documentation, specifications and drawings.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and take-offs.
Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative construction solutions.
Assess project risks and allowances within tender submissions.
Produce comprehensive tender reports and recommendations.
Attend client meetings, tender interviews and pre-construction workshops.
Support bid strategy and negotiation processes.
Mentor and support junior estimators within the team.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.  About You
The successful candidate will possess:
 
Proven experience as a Senior Estimator or Estimator within a main contractor environment.
Strong knowledge of commercial construction projects, including new build, refurbishment and fit-out schemes.
Experience tendering projects ranging from several million pounds up to major flagship developments.
Excellent understanding of construction methods, contracts and procurement routes.
Strong financial, commercial and analytical skills.
Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office packages.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
A proactive and solution-focused approach.
Relevant construction qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent desirable).  What's on Offer?
