Contract: Fractional, 2-3 days per week
Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer

The Opportunity

A growing Kent-based manufacturer is seeking a commercially focused Fractional Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership while driving AI adoption, digital transformation and e-commerce growth.

This is a modern FD role combining commercial finance, technology, data analytics and operational improvement. The successful candidate will help the business improve profitability, automate processes, enhance reporting and maximise the value of AI across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance

• Act as a trusted adviser to the Managing Director and senior team.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and strategic planning.
• Deliver insightful management reporting and KPI dashboards.
• Improve margin performance, working capital and overall profitability.
• Support investment decisions, growth initiatives and funding requirements.

AI & Digital Transformation

• Develop and implement an AI strategy across finance and operations.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency.
• Introduce AI-powered forecasting, reporting and business intelligence tools.
• Improve business data, analytics and decision-making capabilities.
• Lead technology projects that enhance operational performance and customer experience.

• Automated reporting and dashboards.
• AI-enabled forecasting and scenario planning.
• CRM and ERP optimisation.
• Inventory and supply chain analytics.
• Pricing and profitability modelling.

E-Commerce & Commercial Performance

• Support growth of online and digital revenue streams.
• Analyse customer acquisition costs, conversion rates and marketing ROI.
• Develop reporting around e-commerce profitability and customer lifetime value.
• Work with sales and marketing teams to improve commercial performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve online sales and customer experience.

Operational Leadership

• Strengthen financial controls, processes and governance.
• Improve inventory reporting and operational visibility.
• Develop departmental KPIs and accountability measures.
• Support continuous improvement and scalability across the business.

Candidate Profile

Essential

• Proven experience as a Finance Director, CFO or senior finance leader.
• Strong commercial finance, forecasting and business partnering skills.
• Experience with in manufacturing, distribution, retail or e-commerce environments.
• Track record of delivering profit improvement and business transformation.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive change.

Desirable

• Experience implementing AI, automation or digital transformation initiatives.
• Knowledge of Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Copilot or similar analytics tools.
• E-commerce and direct-to-consumer experience.
• Experience in high-growth, owner-managed businesses.
