Chemical Process Engineer

Job Title: Chemical Process Engineer

FLSA Status: Exempt

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to improve efficiency, safety, and product quality.
• Conduct process simulations, heat and material balance calculations, and scale-up activities from lab/pilot to production.
• Prepare and review P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and other technical documentation.
• Monitor and analyze process performance, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, yield improvement, and waste minimization.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, and project teams to implement new technologies and process improvements.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with industry best practices.
• Provide training and mentorship to plant personnel on process engineering fundamentals and safe work practices.
• Support capital projects by defining process requirements, evaluating vendor proposals, and overseeing commissioning/start-up activities.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards.
• Track and report process KPIs, recommending strategies for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
• Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in process or production engineering
• Travel: Approximately 10%
• Other: Must complete pre-employment background, medical, and drug screening; valid driver’s license required
