Medical Assistant - Century III Medical Associates

Allegheny Health Network – West Mifflin – Full‑time – Entry level

Under the direction of the provider and as a member of the health care team, assists in coordinating the examination, treatment and health care planning for patients. Supports office functions to provide timely patient care and efficient office operations.

• Assist in coordination of patient care under supervision of the healthcare provider.
• Prepare and room patients, accurately obtain vital signs, document patient history, screen for depression and complete wellness visit screenings.
• Perform back‑office testing following approved protocols and assist providers with examination and procedures.
• Clean and sterilize instruments, perform lab controls and document medications in the electronic health record.
• Maintain exam room inventory and document clinical and clerical duties accurately.
• Float between physician office locations as needed.

• High School / GED; completion of a Medical Assistant Program OR 1 year of direct patient care experience including vital signs.
• CPR – American Heart Association;
  Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance;
  Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance;
  Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting.
• Ability to perform injections, phlebotomy, EKGs and other clinical duties as required.

• Graduate from a medical assistant program within five years OR proof of one year of work experience as a medical assistant in the last three years must complete certification training and obtain certification within 120 days of hire.
• Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA).

• Associate’s Degree.
