Senior AWS Solution Architect – Entergy

Entergy is seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Solution Architect to lead our Center of Excellence (CoE) for AWS. The role involves designing and implementing cloud solutions that leverage AWS services to enhance our organization’s cloud capabilities, drive innovation, and ensure best practices in cloud architecture.

West Monroe, LA;
New Orleans, LA;
Little Rock, AR; or Jackson, MS. Relocation assistance and sponsorship is not provided.

Lead the innovative development of business solutions through IT to enable the business to meet its objectives. This requires an in-depth understanding of AWS technologies, the business unit’s operations, and the operating model. The Senior AWS Architect will design and implement scalable, secure, and cost‑effective cloud solutions on the AWS platform. The role collaborates with stakeholders to understand business requirements, translates them into technical solutions, and provides guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.

• Design guidance for AWS platform architecture, performance, reliability, operating, and security.
• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost‑effective AWS solutions.
• Assess existing applications and infrastructure to identify opportunities for cloud migration and optimization.
• Develop and maintain documentation for cloud architecture, processes, and procedures.
• Support business units in creating project business cases and capturing functional requirements.
• Liaise between client, vendors, project management, and technical team on solution architecture.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define cloud strategies and best practices.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

• Mentor and guide AWS support teams on AWS services, tools, and methodologies.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and operations teams.
• Facilitate training sessions and workshops to improve cloud literacy across the organization.

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience working with technology and supporting the business.
• Senior level AWS subject matter expert.
• Deep understanding of AWS architecture concepts and ability to integrate business needs.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• 5+ years as a Solution Architect or similar role focusing on AWS cloud solutions.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM) and best practices.
• Experience with cloud migration strategies and implementation.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing security and compliance standards.
• Familiarity with Dev Ops practices and tools (CI/CD, IaC).
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional is highly desirable.

Mainly on‑site (three days) position based in our office environment. Minimal physical requirements; occasional travel may be necessary. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support project deadlines or critical system maintenance.
