Summary:

A balance operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a balance machine that measures the weight of products and materials.

• Balance paper machine rolls to required tolerances established by work order, supervisor and/or engineer
• Look for improvements in process and report to supervisor.
• Make balancing decisions on rolls, based on experience and available information.
• Transfer weights into shells, drill and tap and bolt into place.
• Access inside of rolls or components to transfer weights.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of computer to operate balancer.
• Must demonstrate mathematical ability, including trigonometry, to determine angles, deflections, weight transfers and/or vector splitting, required on the balancing process.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of machining processes, including a fundamental knowledge of balancing.
• Must know how to read blueprints.

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Vocational School graduate in machine shop practices, or equivalent.

• Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
• Must have manual dexterity in order to operate machines as directed.
• Must have excellent hand‑eye coordination.
• Must wear gloves and ear protection.
