The Physician Contracting Officer plays a critical role in developing and implementing standardized form contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable health care regulations, maintaining fair market value FMV standards, and streamlining the end-to-end contracting process to support the organization's strategic and operational objectives.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required, JD or Master’s in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and diligent attention to detail required.
- Proficient with relevant software critical to the job function: contract management software and Excel.
- Track record of success working in an environment of collaboration, transparency, mutual respect, and shared passion for excellence and innovation.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, allocate resources, and manage multiple ongoing, concurrent projects.
- 3-5 years experience in physician contracting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and diligent attention to detail required.
- Review and approve physician arrangement terms and fair market value FMV analyses for accuracy and compliance with Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and internal policies.
- Ensure consistency, legal sufficiency, and alignment with RWJBarnabas Health’s strategic goals and operational standards.
- Monitor changes in federal and state laws, regulations, and industry guidance related to physician arrangements, including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, IRS rules, and CMS requirements.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, physician leadership, and finance teams to create templates that reflect current laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Lead initiatives to improve the physician contracting lifecycle, reduce turnaround times, and enhance transparency and accountability.
- Liaise with internal and external valuation consultants as needed to ensure compensation arrangements remain defensible and compliant.
