RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Health are launching a System Simulation Medicine Fellowship Program within the Department of Emergency Medicine!
The Rutgers Health Emergency Medicine Simulation Fellowship program has the strength of three academic sites with the mix of a university-based level one trauma center, an urban academic center and a community academic center.
Our fellowship is designed to foster your growth as a leader in simulation-based education. You’ll engage in UME, GME and interprofessional education, ethical considerations, and cultural humility, preparing you to create inclusive and effective learning environments. With dedicated modules on research and continuous improvement, you’ll also have the chance to contribute to the field’s body of knowledge through scholarly projects and quality improvement initiatives.
By the end of the program, you’ll be equipped to design, implement, and evaluate simulation programs that enhance patient care and safety.
Our mission is to advance the field of emergency medicine through innovative simulation-based education. We are committed to developing skilled leaders who can design, implement, and evaluate high-quality simulation programs. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ethical practice, and interprofessional collaboration, we aim to enhance patient care and safety, and contribute to the body of knowledge in healthcare simulation.
Candidates are able to apply to the site that best meets their interests from a clinical emergency medicine practice perspective, while leveraging the strength and diversity of the largest academic health system in New Jersey.
RUTGERS HEALTH EMERGENCY MEDICINE SIMULATION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW- SAEM-Accredited 1 Year Fellowship, beginning in July 2025
- 12 modules with hands on experience and expert supervision
- Faculty with a wealth of simulation experience
- Up-to-date literature reviews with Articles of Influence, best practice and evidence-based recommendations
- Diverse learner populations from pre-healthcare, UME, GME, professional practice and IPE experiences
- While the educational program spans 3 sites, the fellow will have one clinical “home” where they will perform their clinical duties. These sites are different in their focus and strengths, allowing for a broad range of diversity and opportunity.

BENEFITS AND SALARY- Salary: $137,000/year

This state-of-the-art ED has 82 treatment areas in a spacious 50,000 square foot area which operates around the clock, 365 days per year. We specialize in treating adults and children with major or minor illnesses or injuries, and mental health problems in the most efficient way possible. Patient satisfaction is a high priority.
