Job

Purpose

Resource Teachers have varied responsibilities; all focused on providing individualized help to students. They create personalized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs, guiding their learning journey. Collaborating closely with classroom teachers, they adapt lessons and materials, ensuring they are accessible to all students, regardless of their learning styles.

Additionally, Resource Teachers offer specialized instruction, addressing specific challenges in subjects like reading or math. They provide emotional support, creating a positive learning atmosphere. Acting as advocates, they ensure equal access to resources. In essence, Resource Teachers play a vital role in teaching and empowering students to succeed.

  • They will service either Science/Math or English/Social Studies students.
Job Summary
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student learning and provide differentiated instruction.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, keeping accurate records and providing regular updates to parents and guardians.
  • Provide one‑on‑one and small group instruction to students.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other relevant meetings with parents, teachers, and school administrators.
  • Support the integration of technology into the classroom to enhance student learning.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with developments in education and best practices for working with students with diverse needs.
Essential Functions
  • Assist individual or small groups of students reinforcing instruction in basic academic subjects; confer with the teacher concerning lesson plans and materials to meet student needs; oversee student drills, practices and assignments in various subjects.
  • Assist students in completing classroom assignments, applications, homework and projects in various academic subjects; work independently with students in an ISS classroom; proctor, administer tests or assessments.
  • Contributes to organization success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team results.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Experience working with students with a variety of special needs
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
  • Proficiency in assistive technology and adaptive educational tools
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multi‑disciplinary team
  • Effective communication skills with students, parents, and staff
  • Familiarity with educational software and learning management systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Special Education, or related field
  • State certification as a Resource Teacher
  • 3+ years of experience in a Resource Teacher role
  • Proven track record of positively impacting student outcomes
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents
  • Passion for helping students with diverse learning needs reach their full potential
Special Schedule

Normal business hours; at times must be willing to work beyond normal business hours as needed by operational needs and event schedules.
