Position Summary
Faculty members are responsible for the delivery of quality education services. The Sterile Processing Technician Instructor will provide up-to-date and fully prepared instruction to Sterile Processing Technician students in an energetic and motivating instructional manner, engaging in activities that promote student retention and managing classroom and lab activities.
Responsibilities- Prepare course plans and materials.
- Deliver lectures and facilitate labs (on ground or online).
- Facilitate student engagement and work one‑on‑one with students.
- Assess students and provide developmental feedback.
- Provide progress reports and mid‑term feedback.
- Maintain and update grade books; record grades and submit final reports.
- Enforce attendance and other HCI policies.
- Monitor student progress, identify at‑risk students, and implement action plans.
- Provide weekly assessments and feedback reports.
- Maintain classroom and lab activities; monitor equipment and supply needs.
- Participate in orientation, staff and faculty meetings, and committees (full‑time required, part‑time requested).
- Attend graduation ceremonies (full‑time required, part‑time requested).
- Work on retention plans and program development.
- Ensure proper use of software (Course Key, Campus Nexus, Moodle).
- Maintain relevant licensures, certifications, and personnel paperwork.
- Obtain at least eight (8) Continuing Education Units annually through professional development and in‑services.
- Encourage student course evaluations and use feedback to improve delivery.
- Comply with governmental regulations and accreditation standards.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Faculty will start and end on time for assigned courses and lab hours. Overtime requires prior approval from the Program Director. Faculty must be able to teach face‑to‑face or online as needed for didactic, lab, and simulation instruction. Full‑time faculty are required to attend meetings, participate in accreditation, and serve on committees; other duties as assigned.
Requirements- Knowledgeable in course content.
- Effective in directing and evaluating student learning and lab performance.
- Prepared in educational theory and techniques.
- Computer literacy with functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to follow high ethical standards.
- Associate’s degree in a health sciences major (preferred).
- Minimum of four (4) years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught (required).
- Current active certification in Sterile Processing (CRCST) (preferred).
Professional office setting and higher education teaching environment. Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
