Purpose

As an MS English Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment conducive to student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines, build effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for academic success.

How You Will Impact Education
  • Plan and implement an instruction program aligned with CSUSA’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study.
  • Create purposeful lesson plans that maximize teaching strategies and reduce time on task.
  • Present subject matter to students in engaging, real‑world, application‑based ways.
  • Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Strive to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
  • Use a variety of learning modalities and differentiated instruction within each lesson.
  • Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments of student learning.
  • Assess strengths and weaknesses regularly, providing appropriate activities and generating progress reports.
  • Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
  • Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
  • Coordinate field trips as required.
  • Prepare students for state‑required achievement assessments.
  • Stay current in subject‑matter knowledge and learning theory, sharing knowledge for continual curriculum improvement.
  • Assist in on‑going curriculum revision and in selecting instructional materials.
  • Become acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students.
Provide a Classroom Environment Conducive to Learning
  • Create a classroom environment that promotes learning and suits the maturity and interests of students.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing support.
  • Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student‑generated work appropriately.
  • Implement all relevant student conduct policies and develop reasonable classroom rules.
Instructional Planning
  • Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
  • Plan individual and group learning activities designed to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and demonstrate preparedness upon supervisor request.
  • Participate with staff in curriculum planning during designated meetings.
  • Incorporate diagnostic information required in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and facilities needed for effective instruction.
School/Community Relations
  • Establish cooperative relations and communicate with parents/guardians as appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly, consistently, and positively with parents via appropriate mediums.
  • Cooperate with administration and other staff in alignment with CSUSA.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Participate in parent communication activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture as required.
