Structural Engineer, Civil Engineering
In the role of Bridge Inspector/Engineer, you will be part of a team to perform inspections of bridges, tunnels, dams, hydraulic structures, and other structures for various agencies and private owners, following NBIS, NTIS and related standards. You will use various access techniques to complete structural field inspections, lead or assist with planning and coordination, develop inspection reports, complete structural load ratings as needed, and contribute to business development efforts.
Responsibilities- Function as part of a team to complete initial, routine, in-depth, and fracture-critical inspections of fixed, movable, and signature bridges; tunnels; dams; hydraulic structures; and other miscellaneous structures for Agencies (federal, state, local) and private owners using NBIS, NTIS and other relevant standards.
- Use various access techniques including under bridge inspection equipment or other access methods to complete structural field inspections.
- Lead or assist with team planning and coordination to complete inspections.
- Develop bridge inspection reports summarizing outcomes and condition assessments.
- Complete structural load ratings as needed.
- Lead or assist with business development efforts with new and existing clients.
- Bachelor's degree
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. - Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-Multi Pier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP
2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, sp Column, STLBridge
LRFD, or STLBridge. - Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley Open Bridge Designer/Open Bridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3D.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Micro Station, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, Prestress Concrete Design; experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
- Experience managing junior staff and excellent communication skills in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel within the United States to inspection sites.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree
- PE in Florida (or can obtain via reciprocity within 6 months)
- FHWA-NHI certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader (and refresher) training
- FHWA-NHI certified fracture-critical techniques for steel bridges training
- Minimum of 7 years of structural inspection experience
- FDOT Inspection Team Leader Certification
- SPRAT Certification
- MEWP Operator Certification for scissor lifts, manlifts, UBIVs and bucket trucks
