Distribution Engineer – Fort Lauderdale, FL
WSP is currently searching for a Distribution Engineer for our Fort Lauderdale office, with additional consideration for Tampa, West Palm Beach, and Miami. The role involves leading medium‑complexity electric distribution projects (4 kV–35 kV), coordinating with project managers, drafters, and client utilities, and upholding WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
Responsibilities- Design and deliver overhead and underground electric distribution projects (4 kV-35 kV), acting as the technical lead on medium‑complexity work packages.
- Provide engineering calculations, construction packages, and field support while coordinating with project managers, drafters, and client utilities.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- BSEE (or equivalent experience).
- Solid understanding of overhead and underground distribution design.
- CAD software experience.
- 4–10 years in distribution engineering.
- Strong background in both overhead and underground distribution design.
- Proven ability to independently handle feeder‑level projects from scoping through IFC with minimal oversight.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and abiding by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- EIT or PE (or progress toward).
- Utility standards experience (e.g., Duke, FPL, PG&E, TECO).
