The Beach Security is responsible for providing security in and around the fill area to keep unauthorized persons from dredging operations. The Beach Security will report to the Fill foreman or Assistant Fill Foreman. The hours are Monday to Sunday 12‑hour shifts; candidates work either day or night shift. The work shifts may vary based on the number of security officers hired per site.

This is a temporary project‑based position. We are currently seeking a Beach Security Officer for the Delray Beach, FL 33483 location.

Great Lakes has a disciplined training program for engineers that ensures experienced‑based performance as they advance through Company operations. The Company's Incident‑and‑Injury‑Free (IIF) safety management program is integrated into all aspects of the Company's culture.

• Maintain a sentry post at the entrance to the construction area to keep unauthorized persons from entering the active construction zone.
• Perform escort duties for bulldozer or wheel loader when equipment is being operated outside the designated construction area and members of the public are present. Tasks may be performed by walking or by use of a utility vehicle.
• Perform pipe security check by walking or driving the shore pipe to identify any security or safety concerns as they relate to the general public.
• Identify areas where the public is not using crossover.
• Identify areas where the shore pipe is leaking and may cause a safety hazard to the public.
• Periodically spend 2–3 days watching safety training videos prudent to job duties.
• May be assigned to other duties.

• Capable of walking on uneven surfaces (e.g., beach sand).
• Capability to perform escort duties for the bulldozer or wheel loader when equipment is being operated outside the designated construction area and members of the public are present.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid interpersonal skills to interact with the public.
• Own steel‑toed boots (non‑billable to GLDD); GLDD will provide the remaining PPE equipment.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• High School Diploma or equivalent degree.
• Valid state driver's license.
