Operational Finance Manager
Aston Carter is seeking an Operational Finance Manager to oversee all financial forecasting and planning activities within the operations function. The role supports the division’s financial reporting process and leads local finance initiatives related to operations.
Responsibilities- Develop and distribute budget guidelines and submission templates for functional leaders.
- Establish and communicate timelines for budget data submissions and related presentations.
- Review initial budget submissions for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and present the annual budget for the operational site.
- Collaborate with regional teams to resolve planning and forecasting issues.
- Review and analyze monthly forecast submissions, comparing them to actual results, plans, and prior forecasts.
- Provide consolidated monthly forecast updates to site management.
- Prepare and present financial projections as needed.
- Assist in creating financial reports to meet internal and external reporting requirements.
- Compile monthly reporting packages and provide commentary on site performance.
- Oversee the collection, processing, consolidation, and reporting of financial results.
- Stay current with changes in reporting standards and accounting practices.
- Develop and monitor the financial aspects of the site’s strategic plan.
- Communicate monthly financial results to management and recommend improvements.
- Organize and prioritize tasks for the finance team, ensuring high‑quality output.
- Evaluate and propose cost reduction opportunities for the site.
- Prepare materials and coordinate meetings with cost committees.
- Participate in and promote financial initiatives within cost committees.
- Conduct cost variance analyses at the site level.
- Track and report on the progress of savings initiatives.
- Support management by ensuring compliance and accuracy in regular financial reporting.
- Develop and report on key financial metrics, assisting in the assessment of business performance.
- Supervise the calculation and analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lead the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems and processes.
- Undertake special financial projects and analyses as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Cost Accounting.
- 3+ years of experience in cost accounting/standard costs.
- 6–8 years of overall accounting/finance experience.
- CPA, CMA and/or MBA highly preferred.
- Experience managing and developing a team of accounting/finance professionals required.
- Strong cost accounting and FP&A related skills.
- Strong inventory accounting under standard cost method and FP&A related skills.
- Ability to report information to different stakeholders and hierarchy levels.
- Good communication and planning skills, change management, results orientation, strategic thinking.
- Ability to lead a team and work independently in a timely and accurate manner.
- Must understand discounted cash flow analysis, ROI, payback, etc.
- Deep understanding of cost accounting, manufacturing, distribution, sales & marketing, and R&D.
- Excellent understanding of accounting within a global organization (FX, inter‑company mark‑ups, allocations, tax issues).
- Proficiency with standard desktop software (Excel, PowerPoint, databases) and fully integrated ERP systems (Oracle Cloud).
- Flexible, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Effective delegation and communication with global finance, senior management and executives.
- Proactive ownership of significant issues as they arise.
- Ability to make concise, professional presentations to senior management.
