Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in counseling, job placement, job coaching, or public vocational rehabilitation program can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Background Screening RequirementApplicants undergo Level 2 employment screening as per Florida Statutes Chapter 435. Screening includes fingerprinting for statewide criminal and juvenile records checks, federal criminal records checks, and may include local records checks.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Interview participants to assess resources and complete referrals for appointments.
- Implement procedures to acquire or purchase medical/psychological information and arrange necessary medical evaluations at counselor’s direction.
- Schedule appointments for treatment.
- Accompany participants when purchasing clothing, tools, equipment, or similar items.
- Resolve transportation issues.
- Follow-up on cases and maintain participant contact through telephone calls and email.
- Provide support to counselors in managing financial authorizations to ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance with budgetary guidelines; maintain specialized records and compile data for reporting.
- Coordinate out‑of‑area services for participants as needed.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective communication.
- Knowledge of methods for compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
- Ability to interview clients to identify needs.
- Ability to provide information and referral services.
- Ability to locate and develop community resources.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding internal and external customer information.
- Ability to use agency automated systems.
- Ability to participate in a unit team.
