Position: Peer Specialist (Street Outreach Program)

The Peer Specialist is an individual with lived experience of homelessness or housing instability and is now in stable housing. Peer Specialist (Street Outreach Program)

Location: West Palm Beach, FL

Schedule: Part-time (20 hours/week) | Weekdays with occasional evenings/weekends

Are you a compassionate individual who has overcome homelessness and is now stably housed? Want to use your experience to make a real impact on the lives of others?

Vita Nova is seeking a part-time Peer Specialist to join our Street Outreach Program (SOP). In this role, you will use your personal journey to connect with and support young adults (ages 18–22) who are currently experiencing homelessness. Your insight, empathy, and resilience will play a key role in helping others access services, build trust, and take steps toward stability and self-sufficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage insights from your own lived experience to build rapport and offer support to unhoused youth in the community.
  • Conduct outreach in parks, streets, campuses, libraries, and encampments.
  • Distribute essential items and provide information about available services.
  • Support youth in overcoming barriers to housing and accessing resources like healthcare, mental health services, and .
  • Provide transportation for youth access to shelter, basic needs, and community services.
  • Participate in community meetings, coordinated entry efforts, and crisis response.
Qualifications:
  • Lived experience with homelessness, now stably housed – required qualification.
  • Passion for helping others through a trauma-informed and empathetic approach.
  • Prior experience in human services or peer support is a plus.
  • Willingness to work in an office setting and in the community.
  • Reliable transportation with a valid FL driver's license.
  • Ability to pass Level 2 background check and drug screen.
