Position: HVAC TECHNICIAN (FULL TIME)

Overview

We are hiring immediately for full time HVAC Technician positions.

Location: PBAU - 901 South Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, FL 33401.

Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Further details upon interview.

Pay Range: $23.00 per hour to $30.00 per hour

Job Summary

The HVAC Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to facilities engineering and maintenance. Incumbent works under supervision of a Supervisor, Foreman, and/or Master Mechanic and applies a proven skill in one trade. The role requires independent problem-solving within the chosen trade and ensures work is performed in accordance with correct practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Updates work statuses and documents tasks completed in the CMMS using a mobile device.
  • Helps determine manpower, material needs, and deadlines for jobs and projects.
  • Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs, and diagnoses malfunctions of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, food service equipment, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, fire alarm systems, and related equipment.
  • Assists in making decisions on repairs and reports major problems to the Maintenance Supervisor, Foreman, and/or Master Mechanic as appropriate.
  • Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and mechanical systems or related facilities using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Reviews outside vendor projects and creates punch lists.
  • Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems and electro/mechanical issues related to utilities.
  • Supports project management activity as needed.
  • Responds to emergency problems and makes emergency repairs as needed.
  • Maintains logs, performs rounds, and completes preventive maintenance work orders, tests, and inspections.
  • Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
  • Maintains shops and mechanical areas in a clean and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
  • One of the following:
    Journeyman Electrical License, Registered ACR Technician with EPA certification in Refrigerant, or Journeyman Plumber License.
  • Experience working with blueprints and schematics.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • General understanding of electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Rudimentary ability to operate hand-operated construction equipment.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and perform physical labor as required.
Working Conditions

Some exposure to high heat, noise, dust, dirt, and areas requiring infection control. Requires meeting deadlines daily. Must be able to work all hours, including weekends and nights, as necessary to maintain facility at the appropriate and safe level.
