Supervisory position to cover for Dispatcher, Road Supervisor and Communicator responsibilities needed. An employee in a position allocated to this class provides overall supervision to direct subordinates in monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures involving transit operators; instructs employees in customer service practices and techniques and in proper procedures for emergency situations. Work involves coordinating operations activities through assigning, scheduling, and dispatching bus operators and vehicles to established routes and coordinating field activities through the use of communications equipment and direct supervision in the field.
Work includes checking availability of operators, assigning operators to vehicles, directing operators to changes in routes and providing on-site supervision in the field; recommending and imposing discipline. Employees in this class work within the scope of established departmental rules, regulations and procedures exercising independent judgment and discretion in coordinating efforts to resolve field problems. Work is reviewed through reports, meetings and observation of work results.
This position reports to the Section Manager and Assistant Manager.
High school diploma or equivalent certification (GED); plus, five (5) years of experience as a bus operator; plus, three (3) years of supervisory experience. Eighteen (18) additional months of bus driving experience may be substituted for each year of supervisory experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with “P” (passenger) endorsement; driving record subject to approval.
Must have experience using Microsoft Word & Excel, which must be included in application.
Associates degree in business administration (or related field);
Public transit supervisory experience;
Knowledge of transit software;
Bilingual (English/Spanish) (English/Creole).
