Position: Mechanical Engineer I
Summary
This is an entry-level position for recent mechanical engineering (or similar technical degrees) graduates with little practical experience but show potential through education or other manufacturing work-related experiences. The role provides engineering support for plant systems for equipment and facilities, ensuring mechanical systems and components meet required specifications for safety, economy, reliability, and sustainability. Responsibilities include designing, coordinating, and implementing mechanical systems, evaluating, selecting, and applying mechanical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures to ensure the highest quality product is produced.
The position also involves preparing complete documentation related to projects.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, coordinate construction, procurement, and installation of cost-effective equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and productivity.Supervise and inspect all installations for compliance with specifications and satisfactory operation.Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, and suppliers.Produce details of specifications and designs.Manage projects using sound reliability engineering principles and techniques.Develop, test, and evaluate theoretical designs.Monitor and commission plant and systems and assist with troubleshooting and repairs.Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety, and time constraints.Use research, analytical, conceptual planning skills, mathematical modeling, and computer-aided design.Provide the maintenance department with appropriate documentation and training on systems.Prepare documentation, reports, and updates engineering data related to studies and projects.Provide technical support to both maintenance and production operations.Knowledge and Skills
Analytical thought process.Effective written/oral communication.CAD Inventor or Solid Works and Microsoft Office Software.Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, welding, HVAC knowledge.Education and Experience
COOPs, internships, or other industrial/manufacturing experiences.Knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and other typical manufacturing processes.Ability to work successfully in both team and individual environments – good listener – continuous learner.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical degree).Travel Requirements
Ability to travel for training assignments to overseas facilities or corporate headquarters. Limited domestic travel for educational, technical, or business-related opportunities.
Physical Requirements Able to spend time walking the production areas, talking with operators and maintenance associates, climb 3 floors of stairs, climb ladders, and use small hand tools and meters for performing evaluations, calibrations, and troubleshooting. Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
