Overview
White Oak Medical Center - Adventist Health Care’s Pharmacy is hiring an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for our Emergency Department in Silver Spring, MD. Qualified candidates will be eligible for up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus. (Current AHC employees not eligible – see below under additional details.)
Responsibilities- Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of the patient’s medications.
- Follow the patient’s progress to determine the effects of the patient’s medications on his or her health.
- Consult with the patient’s physicians and other health care providers in selecting the medication therapy that best meets the patient’s needs and contributes effectively to the overall therapy goals.
- Review and verify physician orders for appropriateness.
- Participate in patient care rounds.
- Counsel and educate patients about their medications.
- Serve as a preceptor for Pharmacy residents and students.
- Educate pharmacists, nurses and physicians.
- Participate in hospital committees.
- Participate in Pharmacy Staff monthly meetings and weekly huddles.
- Emergency Code participation (ACLS and PALS trained).
- Overseeing Medication History pharmacy technicians.
- Required:
Graduation from an ACPE accredited pharmacy school, with Pharm
D degree. - Required:
ASHP accredited PGY-2 Residency, or PGY-1 residency with 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience in area of specialty; or minimum of 5 years of hospital experience in the specialized area. - Registered Pharmacist with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
- Preferred (required within one year of employment):
Board Certification in area of specialty. - Preferred: ACLS Certification.
- Preferred:
Member of ASHP and/or MSHP, or other relevant professional organization. - Preferred:
Prior experience precepting students and residents.
10 am - 6:30 pm Monday-Friday
Sign-on and PayNote: Qualified candidates are eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $10,000. Current AHC employees are not eligible for a sign-on bonus if transferring between entities or if terminated and returning within six months. Salary: $ - $.
