NDT Operator - 2nd Shift

Valence Surface Technologies – West Springfield, MA

Compensation: $20.00 – $28.00 per hour plus shift differential.

Responsibilities
  • Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize penetrant black lights, process a known defect standard, accept/reject results, take measurements of pressure and water gauges, and evaluate the in‑use penetrant and developer.
  • Apply penetrant to aerospace parts in accordance with aerospace specifications, understand required dwell times, wash penetrant off parts per prime specifications, and control materials to meet specifications.
  • Control developer dwell times and understand the specific evaluation process required by all aerospace OEM specifications.
  • Determine if an aerospace part is acceptable or rejectable when evaluating in accordance with an aerospace OEM specification.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of Penetrant inspection using a Type I, Method A, form d system.
  • Provide guidance and/or supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel.
  • Be familiar with penetrant OEM aerospace specifications, industry specifications that apply to penetrant inspection, and inspection criteria within specifications used by the employer.
  • Develop part‑specific techniques in accordance with customer requests; such techniques shall require final approval by a Level 3 certified in the method.
  • Have a basic knowledge of other departments within an aerospace processing facility, e.g., pre‑penetrant etching and cleaning, post‑cleaning, pre‑treatment, masking, shot peening, and paint.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (education preferred).
  • Currently or recently certified in NDT FPI disciplines.
  • Experience in departmental audits.
  • Excellent people skills; hands‑on worker.
  • Previous plating experience and experience in a NADCAP & ISO 9000 environment desired.
  • Experience with chemical processing (etching, Nital etch) a plus.
