Job Description:

Bio Life Plasma Services is a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager and functions as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. The position requires familiarity with plasma collection regulations or a manufacturing environment and provides center-level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS) under guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs.

You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the Center Physician for medical issues.

Key responsibilities include following SOPs for medical emergencies, developing Center Physician standing orders, and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities. You will reference the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility. You will support vaccination programs for employees (as applicable) and manage employee incidents per EHS guidance. You may serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.

What

you will contribute
  • Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
  • Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including implementing Center Physician standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees (as applicable).
  • Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required; follow EHS guidance.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy (in-state licensure).
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
