Location:
West Saint Paul, MN.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM with rotational weekends.
The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for accurately performing and processing venous and capillary blood collection from adults, infants, and children, and all related functions, including Point of Care Testing (POC).
Pay Range$23.00 - $28.00 per hour. Salary offers are based on skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Eligible for an annual performance bonus compensation.

- Collect blood and/or perform POC as assigned
- Cleans and re‑stocks POC supplies and prepares phlebotomy carts/trays
- Assists coworkers with draws and POC testing
- Draws venous or capillary blood from patients of all ages using proper aseptic collection techniques
- Draws and delivers all blood work within established departmental policy time frames
- Draws venous and capillary blood into proper tubes and culture vials according to the test purpose
- Performs and processes all POC tests on patients ranging from newborn to geriatrics
- Completes clerical functions associated with POC testing documents
- Reports incidents/issues regarding patients or employees timely to group leader or supervisor
- Reports supply needs and equipment defects in a timely fashion
- Logs refrigerator temperatures daily and reports deviations to group leader or supervisor
- Travels and performs phlebotomy duties and POC testing as needed at health fair and PSA testing sites and delivers specimens to laboratory
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care specific to those needs (age, culture, language, hearing/visually impaired, etc.) and communicates at the patient’s level
- Adheres to the standards identified in the clinic's Organizational Competencies
Regular contact with clinic personnel, patients and visitors.
Physical Requirements- Lift light to moderately heavy objects (1–15 lb frequently; 16–25 lb occasionally; 26–40 lb seldom; >41 lb requires assistance)
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time; requires long hours of eye and hand coordination
- Must perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently
- Position requires travel
- Extensive use of phone and PC
- Fine dexterity with hands/steadiness
- Communication and mobility: talking, walking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching/twisting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
