The initial assignment is in Adult Field Services. Community Corrections supervisors may be reassigned between adult and juvenile services based on department needs. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to lead staff and support effective practices across assignments.
Community Corrections supervisors establish professional relationships with staff, develop their skills, and support the mission of the department. Dakota County seeks supervisors who can support staff through change, recognize their strengths, and address their training and development needs. Supervisors lead unit discussions regarding the department mission, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (IDE), Evidence Based Practices (EBP), and policies and procedures. They monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and intervene when necessary to ensure services meet client needs and support community safety.
The supervisor provides leadership and oversight to probation officers and other assigned staff serving adults or youth. Responsibilities include staff coaching and development, workload management, review of court reports and supervision decisions, program oversight, and collaboration with justice system and community partners.
Community Corrections is part of the Community Services Division. The division focuses on Integrated Service Delivery and meeting client needs across departments. We work with clients and service partners to address housing, employment, transportation, health care, education, financial assistance, and other needs that support successful outcomes.
