The Cut to Length Temper Mill Operator processes materials through the Temper Leveling equipment, operating all aspects of the leveling line. The operator maintains a constant and smooth flow of the operation and a high level of production.
Essential Functions- Process coils through the Temper Leveling line in accordance with the equipment manufacturers’ instructions and perform daily routine maintenance and lubrication.
- Monitor product quality with regard to the customer’s and ASTM specifications as outlined in SSAB’s ISO 9001 and 14001 programs. Report all non‑conforming material to the appropriate personnel.
- Verify that the correct product is properly positioned for consumption and properly identify and package finished product as stated on the production order or established specifications.
- Record all production data in either electronic or written form as required.
- Report all equipment problems to the maintenance department or operations manager.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Train to operate oxy‑fuel/plasma cutting beds.
- Train to operate oxy‑fuel track torches.
- Assist maintenance.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in operation of overhead cranes.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The Employee Will Frequently Be Required To- Sit, stand, walk, alternating up to 8 hours at a time.
- Use both hands for grasping, handling, gripping and feeling textures and temperatures.
- Lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.
- Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb.
- Bend, twist at waist level, reach at and/or above shoulder level and below waist level.
- Push, pull, lift, and/or carry items weighing less than 50 pounds.
- Vision at near, mid and far range, peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Talking and hearing in person, on a radio, and/or in group settings.
- Desktop computer.
- Hand tools.
- Overhead floor remote cranes.
- Oxy‑Fuel hand torch.
- Around equipment in motion.
- Amid noise.
- While wearing personal protective / safety equipment to prevent injury from noise and environmental hazards.
- Around moving trucks and industrial mobile equipment.
- Position is full time, non‑exempt, and is eligible for overtime.
- No travel expected for this position.
