This position is open until filled and is a time‑limited appointment. Compensation is $1,200.00 per year.
Job SummaryRepresents the Division of Community Health Services in countywide health education, health promotion, and risk reduction programs. This role serves families with children ages 0‑5 through two monthly home visits using the Parents as Teachers curriculum, conducting age‑appropriate screenings and assessments to promote healthy children and families. The position is community‑based and requires travel to clients’ homes in Salt Lake County.
Responsibilities- Develop, plan, and implement health education, behavior risk reduction, and outreach programs.
- Assess health education needs and priorities for various populations using appropriate assessment tools.
- Develop, conduct, and evaluate the effectiveness of health education/health promotion programs.
- Create marketing and educational materials and promote events through various marketing methods.
- Act as a resource providing links to community services and agencies.
- Create and implement policy focused on population‑based behavior change.
- Develop and prepare required reports and documents.
- Collaborate with internal and community agencies to accomplish stated objectives.
- Act as a representative of the agency and program.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Health Education, Health Science, Public Health, Early Childhood Education, Community Health, or Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Health Education; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish with fluency in reading, writing, and speaking both languages.
- Ability to obtain a Parents as Teachers curriculum certificate.
- Valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah, required at the time of hire and must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Successful completion of a required background check and enrollment in the RAP Back program per County Human Resources policy.
Same as responsibilities above; includes developing, implementing, and evaluating community health programs.
