FROZEN FOOD/LEAD CLERK at Smith's Food & Drug Centers

Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise all functions, duties and activities for the Frozen Foods department.
  • Support day-to-day operations of Frozen Foods.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment and provide exceptional customer service aligned with the Customer 1st strategy.
  • Achieve department sales and profit goals and monitor established quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with recommendations.
  • Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by addressing product questions and store promotions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Desired Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Management experience preferred
  • Retail experience
  • Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing)
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Ability to communicate company, department and job-specific information to associates
  • Collaborate with associates to promote teamwork and achieve goals
  • Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets
  • Develop scheduling to manage customer volume during operating hours
  • Train and develop associates and participate in performance appraisals
  • Adhere to laws, guidelines and company policies
  • Provide product knowledge and assist customers with questions and recommendations
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a productive work environment
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve results
  • Understand store layout and locate products efficiently
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management
  • Inform associates about current and upcoming promotions, especially for frozen foods
  • Prepare seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor
  • Stay current with ads and promotions
  • Support store management with budgeting, financial reporting, and inventory control
  • Monitor inventory levels and note discrepancies
  • Plan, organize and supervise inventory processes
  • Train on inventory/stocking and computer-assisted ordering
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Report safety risks or issues and any theft or fraud
  • Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
