Position: Field Tech 1

Field Tech 1 – Pace® Labs

Location:

Sheridan, WY & West Valley, UT (daytime, Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). This is a full‑time role.

Shift

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Compensation

$20.00 per hour

Summary

Responsible for assisting in collecting, testing, processing and maintenance of field/environmental samples, including air, soil, water and related areas. This involves knowledge of fundamental field/environmental support policies, programs and practices while completing appropriate forms, documents and databases.

Essential Functions
  • Provides field services using standard knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including taking samples, completing test kits, and documenting results.
  • Picks up, transports, and delivers results, samples, documents, materials and other items as needed.
  • Prepares vehicle or truck for daily operations, including documentation, kits, supplies, materials, and safety equipment.
  • Reviews, completes, and processes standard logs, documents, databases, and related materials.
  • Provides fundamental support and assistance to staff and management regarding field/environmental support policies, programs and practices.
  • Supports research of issues and develops recommendations to resolve employee, management and customer issues.
  • Assists in reviewing and implementing policy changes to meet organizational needs.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; escalates issues when required.
  • Promotes efficiency and effectiveness of the department’s service to customers.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior in interactions with customers and staff, fostering a harmonious work environment.
Qualifications

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; one year experience in a lab or environmental setting preferred.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Valid Driver's License.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Fundamental principles, practices and techniques of field/environmental support.
  • Customer service principles and practices.
  • Safe driving principles and practices.
  • Understanding of daily administration of field/environmental support programs, policies and procedures.
  • Methods to resolve field/environmental support or technical problems.
  • Ability to learn organizational policies and procedures on sample maintenance.
  • Computer applications and systems related to the work.
  • Principles to serve as an effective project team member.
  • Communication methods with staff, coworkers and customers.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Mobility to safely operate a motor vehicle and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Vision to read printed materials and computer screens; hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.

Working Environment

Work is performed outside, in the office and lab settings. Work is subject to travel, weather conditions, exposure to blood or bodily fluids, chemicals, fumes, gases and noxious odors in a lab and environmental setting.
