Job Summary
Completes troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop independently while coaching and developing less experienced technicians.
We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in West Valley, UT.

Will make an impact in the following ways:
- Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
- Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
- Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
- Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
- Maintain own tools
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Completes complex internal engine repairs
- Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls
- Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
- Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
- Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
This position requires a technical/trade school degree from an accredited program or equivalent work experience.
The level for this position will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and skill set. Qualifications for different technician levels are:
- Technician Level I: Limited relevant technician experience; qualified to perform work on a minimal number of products in‑scope for technician at this location; primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics; requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality.
- Technician Level II: Some relevant technician experience; qualified to perform work on an intermediate number of products in‑scope for technician at this location; primarily engaged in moderately complex maintenance and repair; some exposure to moderate or complex diagnostics, requires limited direct supervision, may provide basic training or guidance to new technicians.
- Technician Level III: Significant relevant technician experience; qualified to perform work on most or all of products in‑scope for technicians at this location; frequently engaged in complex diagnosis and repair; requires minimal to no supervision; ability to effectively train and guide less experienced technicians of varying skillsets.
- This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre‑employment drug testing requirements. This role will be subject to ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
- A current valid license is required for this role.
- Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience.
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations.
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
ExperienceAdvanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred).
Compensation and BenefitsBase salary rate commensurate with experience.
