Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility is to ensure safety of personnel, practice good environmental stewardship, and implement assigned project safely, on time, and within budget to meet customer expectations.
- Coordinate work assigned, work with Outage Manager, Outage Planner, Safety Specialist, Outage Scheduler, and other Project Leads to achieve objective.
- Direct resources to resolve discrepancies regarding safety, schedule, and budget while communicating changes from original plan.
- Assist Outage Manager in identifying, avoiding, or mitigating obstacles, threats, or interferences preventing successful completion of the outage.
- Ensure safety of all personnel on project, maintain awareness and resolve conflicts; remain on site 80% of project duration.
- Perform site construction oversight inspections to monitor field quality of work and materials from vendors and subcontractors.
- Under supervision of Outage Manager/Project Manager, inspect work quality and adherence to contract specifications, regulatory requirements, codes and company standards using visual observation, construction knowledge and application of skills.
- Ensure client receives products/services specified in PO and that they will perform as required.
- Oversee and monitor installation or demolition of foundations, structural steel, pipelines and other mechanical/electrical items for capital projects related to generation of electricity.
- Any deviations from contract specifications or materials identified are reported to Outage Manager/Site Construction Manager and/or project manager.
- Provide quality inspection reports/status updates to management upon request or as needed.
- Provide feedback to contractors, engineers, safety personnel and general management concerning issues or concerns being encountered.
- Review and submit Daily/Weekly contractor/supplier “Contractor Charges Worksheet” (CCWs), Time Sheets and Miscellaneous Contractor Charges (MCCs) then submit to Outage Manager or Planner as instructed.
- Know and apply information in the Power Generation Outage and Generation Projects Groups’ Contractor Leadership Safety Orientation Handbook (aka The Yellow Book).
- Know and apply information in the Power Generation Outage Group Project Lead Handbook (aka The Blue Book).
- Working knowledge of power generation and environmental control equipment.
- General knowledge of construction and operational field work practices, equipment utilization and work component scheduling.
- Skilled in problem solving with great attention to detail.
- Skilled in comparing construction specifications and material requirements to physical and material work products.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting manuals, technical instructions and drawings, with ability to accurately prepare brief written reports.
- Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work to meet construction deadlines.
- Skilled in the use of a personal computer, to include reasonable experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively with management and co‑workers and to make effective decisions.
- Familiarity with OSHA scaffolding requirements and industry safety practices.
