DescriptionThe Assistant/Associate Professor of Management in the Walker College of Business at Piedmont University is a nine‑month, non‑tenure faculty position in management at the rank of assistant or associate professor (depending on the candidate’s level of experience). The ideal candidate possesses the ability to teach courses at the bachelor’s and master’s levels in the areas of Management, Human Resources and Organizational Behavior.
Experience and interest in teaching courses in Management Information Systems is also welcome. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, with courses delivered both on campus and online. Excellence in teaching is prioritized, but scholarship in teaching and learning or within the discipline, involvement with advising, and service to the College, the University, and the profession are also expected.
Opportunities exist to teach courses in the summer in addition to the nine‑month contract, but there is no expectation of summer teaching.
- Providing high‑quality instruction and interacting with students in a professional manner;
- Advising students on both their educational progress and their personal and professional goals;
- Maintaining accurate and secure records of student grades, attendance, and advisement;
- Maintaining high standards of professionalism in the content, objectives, teaching, and grading of all courses;
- Maintaining an understanding of college policies and the curriculum and degree requirements of their respective schools;
- Participating in departmental, school, and college faculty meetings and serving on committees as appropriate;
- Contributing to the ongoing operation of their respective departments and schools;
- Assessing their teaching effectiveness via annual portfolios and evaluating courses formally in accordance with official college procedure;
- Assuring their availability to students, faculty, staff, and administrators by posting and keeping reasonable office hours, as determined by the dean of their respective schools;
- Maintaining a professional level of scholarship by continuous study, research, and attendance and participation at professional meetings. These activities are supported by the college through departmental travel funds and the faculty development program;
- Filing accurate course syllabi with the appropriate school each semester;
- Reliable, consistent attendance is a requirement and essential function of all positions;
- Employees are expected to be punctual and dependable in order to meet the needs of their department and the College, including on‑site duties.

- Possess successful experience in the application of student learning and assessment practices, processes, and technologies that enhance teaching (preferred).

- Possess strong knowledge of subject matter under CIP codes that include: 52.02 – Business Administration, Management and Operations.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of instructional theory, educational practices, and assessment.

Education and Experience
- Successful candidates must have a terminal degree in a management related field from a regionally accredited institution and significant work experience.
