Teacher, English Language Development (ELD), Bells Mill ES, 1.0 FTE

Bells Mill Elementary School is seeking an English Language Development (ELD) teacher for a 1.0 FTE position. Under the direction of the school principal, the successful candidate will plan for and provide ELD instruction for students identified as eligible for ELD services. The teacher collaborates with administrators, counselors, teachers, and other school staff to address the needs of Emergent Multilingual Learner (EML) students and will serve as a resource on EML, cultural and linguistic differences, the ELD instructional program, and how to explain the program to parents.

The teacher also serves as a resource for students, parents, staff, and the community as needed.

Physical Demands: As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.

Job Specific Information

English Language Development (ELD) Position, Full Time. Teacher work day is 8:45 AM – 4:15 PM, Monday – Friday. Salary range: $64,591 to $131,472 based on education and experience. For information about benefits, please follow the link below:

Knowledge Skills Abilities
  • Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors, and other school staff in organizing and implementing the ELD instructional program.
  • Fluency in another language, in addition to English, preferred.
  • Ability to understand and support students in the process of adjustment to the academic and cultural environment in MCPS.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
Education Training Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Certificate:
Holds Maryland teacher certification in ESOL/ELD.
