Job Summary /Basic Function

The Graduate Assistant selected for this position will join the Stubblefield Institute team, working closely with the Institute's Program Coordinator and partners to help plan and execute events, programs, and activities. This includes, but is not limited to, providing administrative and logistical support in hosting public forums, student engagement events, and conferences. This position also provides an opportunity to put the student's recruitment and business development skills into action by recruiting participants for the Stubblefield Institute's Community Leadership & Civil Advocacy course from Shepherd's student body, as well as local businesses and nonprofits.

The Graduate Assistant will play a key role in engaging students with the Institute.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a graduate student at Shepherd University
  • Skilled in event planning and organizing, including all technical operational needs of virtual events
  • Strong social networking and communication skills
  • Interest in leadership and civic engagement
  • Commitment to modeling and promoting civil political discourse
  • Self-starter, creative thinker requiring minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as an effective team member
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong relationships with Shepherd University department faculty, students, and student groups
  • Experience in student leadership, community service, or civic engagement
  • Experience organizing and hosting virtual meetings and/or workshops using platforms such as Zoom and Teams
  • Ability to begin working by January 12, 2026
  • Preference given to graduate students with availability beyond one year
