Location: Location

The incumbent of this position is responsible for the overall health and safety of infants and toddlers in the program. They work as part of the classroom team to build trusting relationships with children and families, develop lesson plans, conduct ongoing assessments, and manage the classroom environment.

Supervision:

Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Center Director.

Exercised: None.

Rate: Based on Education and Experience $19.67 - $27.72

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the mission and philosophy of the Head Start program.
  • Partner with families respectfully, recognizing individual differences.
  • Create a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities to promote children's readiness for school.
  • Engage families in the curriculum and support their role as primary educators.
  • Provide positive guidance and address behavioral concerns following program policies.
  • Complete required professional development hours annually.
  • Collaborate with supervisory staff on professional growth plans.
  • Maintain professional and positive relationships with all program participants and co-workers.
  • Complete developmental and behavioral screenings within 45 days of enrollment.
  • Plan weekly and daily classroom activities tailored to children's needs.
  • Implement nutrition lessons and facilitate family-style meals.
  • Conduct family visits and coordinate with Family Workers.
  • Maintain classroom documentation and health records.
  • Follow emergency procedures and participate in center responsibilities.
  • Engage in recruitment, staff meetings, and training sessions.
  • Practice proper hygiene and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Adhere to safety policies and maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Required

Skills and Abilities

:

  • Ability to kneel and address children at eye level.
  • Demonstrate motor activities such as running, jumping, and dancing.
  • Ability to respond quickly to children in peril.
  • Provide comfort and support to children with challenging behaviors.
  • Assist children in fire drills and safety procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, with at least 6 courses in ECE/Child Development, including Child Growth and Development.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
