Job Description
Under the direction and supervision of the WAR Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility (ECF), the Driver will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the ECF residents while transporting them to and from medical appointments at various hours and days of the week. The Driver will complete all other duties assigned, such as mapping daily routes as medical appointments occur, communicating with the DON/Designee by telephone regarding any appointment changes or transportation delays, and problem‑solving any transportation issues.
The Driver will also be responsible for ensuring that the van is cleaned and in working order after each use, as well as coordinating all regular scheduled maintenance. Additionally, the Driver will support patient needs, escort patients who are fall risks, and act as a member of the interdisciplinary team—communicating information and integrating appropriately with the DON/Designee as needed.

EducationHigh School Diploma or GED preferred.
Certifications & LicensureBLS (Basic Life Support) Certification by AHA Healthcare Provider is required within six months of hire. Must satisfy the requirements for and maintain a valid driver’s license, a DOT‑equivalent medical examiner’s certificate, and submit to periodic drug screenings as defined by applicable federal, state, and VH policies and regulations.
