SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. Our more than 30 programs throughout the district provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment, and affordable housing.
We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.
Position Description: The Residential Assistant will provide monitoring and oversight of residential/transitional housing facilities and residents.
Required: HS Degree/GED; 1-3 yrs experience in social services; experience providing services in addictions or mental health treatment.
Required License/Certification: CPR/First Aid; AED;
Food Handler's License;
Crisis Intervention (Training);
Driver's License.

Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays, 8:00am - 4:00pm (16 hours per week)

- Perform room checks and hourly house walk-throughs
- Ensure house chores are completed
- Assist residents in preparing meals, as needed
- Monitor resident compliance with rules and regulations
- Provide documentation and maintain communication logs
- Respond to crisis situations or medical emergencies and report to management and on-call staff
- Monitor resident self-medication during shift
- Provide supervision of the facility and residents during assigned shift; maintain safety and security of the facility
- Provide assistance to residents with daily living activities
