Assess treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check and operate equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Graduate of NBRC/Accredited program for Respiratory Therapy (Associates or Bachelor’s Degree).
- Registration with NBRC and Licensure with the W.V.B.O.R.C.
- BLS,ACLS,PALS and NRP within 6 months of hire

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Bachelor’s degree
- American Association of Respiratory Care Membership
- 2 years
- Assess the patient/client through history, systems review, and tests and measures upon orders from the physician. Plans appropriate treatment based upon the physician orders and the evaluation; establishes goals, methods of treatment and the patient's potential.
- Set up the appropriate equipment, select and measure the proper medications if applicable and administer treatments as ordered by the physician: ex: oxygen administration, humidity therapy, airway management, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, postural drainage procedures and chest physiotherapy, intermittent positive pressure ventilation, pressure support ventilation, BIPAP, CPAP,
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assess treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check and operate equipment. nebulizer therapy, metered dose inhaler therapy, closed atmospheric and respiratory monitoring, pharmacology respiratory care. - Performs treatments according to the established plan, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment and techniques within the scope of Respiratory Therapy.
4. Monitors environmental control systems (humidification, etc) and other types of respiratory entrainment systems. Delivers and sets up equipment and monitors patients on continuous ventilation and documents as per departmental policies and procedures. Provides nasotracheal and endotracheal intubation when required following all departmental and national guidelines and policies and procedures, and document accordingly. Performs nasotracheal and tracheal (E.T.T. and Trach) suctioning per policy and procedures and document performance of said procedures per departmental policies and procedures.
Performs trach and endotracheal care as needed per policy and procedures and documents the performance of the procedure according to department policies and procedures. - Assist in the surgical suite as requested with C-Sections and bronchoscopes. Assist in any emergencies in the surgical suite requiring Respiratory expertise.
6. Documents in the medical records according to established criteria, including initial evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries. - Possesses the ability to recognize basic deviation from the norm regarding physical, mental and psychological status; documents these, along with objective treatment plan accordingly.
