American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for an acute care hospital, requiring RRT or CRT certification and 2+ years of specialty experience.
Requirements- Current RRT required, CRT acceptable
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
- PCOT certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy specialty
- Ventilatory management skills required
- Must be able to work independently
- Pediatric experience preferred but not required
- License required if applicable
- Acute care setting covering inpatient, outpatient, and ED departments
- Patient population is mostly adults, with occasional peds and neonates seen in the ED and L&D
- Day shift coverage includes 2 RTs for inpatient and 1 RT for outpatient, night shift has 1 RT for inpatient
- Performs 50-75+ treatments per day depending on census
- Uses Hamilton Medical C1 & C3 vents, Masimo Soft Flow High Flows, Masimo Pulse Oximeters, GEM
5000 ABG analyzer, and Res Med bedside CPAP/BiPAP - MEDITECH EMR used for charting
- 3x12-hour shifts;
Monday and Tuesday day shift, alternating Wednesday and Friday night shift - Every other weekend required
- Floating required, with staff rotating ER assignment
- No formal call or standby call requirement; manager available 24/7 for support
- Responsibilities include vent management, ABG draws, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, nebulizer treatments, MDIs, and airway clearance for inpatients
- Outpatient duties include nocturnal pulse ox setup and blood gas draws
- RTs assist with intubation rather than performing independently
- No dedicated charge or lead RT on shift; works collaboratively as part of a team
- Hospitalist or intensivist is on-site during the day and on-call overnight
- 2-3 days of department-specific orientation provided
- No specific scrub color required
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Does not accept local candidates
- Radius rule of 50 miles applies
