Location: Apple Grove

APG Polytech, LLC offers a stable, people-first HR role in Apple Grove, WV at a manufacturing facility. This in-person position combines HR support across key programs and processes, with benefits that include health, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k), paid time off

As a Jr. Human Resources Generalist (1 to 2 years of experience), you will help keep hiring, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, and employee support running smoothly. You will also partner with the HR Manager on employee relations, compliance support, and ongoing HR initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with recruitment and selection for hourly, professional, and management roles, including job postings, testing, interviewing, and pre-employment screening.
  • Maintain accurate applicant and recruitment records, including documentation of recruiting activities.
  • Support recruiting events, job fairs, and relationships with schools and workforce-development organizations.
  • Coordinate new employee orientation and onboarding, ensuring new hire paperwork and onboarding requirements are completed accurately and on time (training, badging, system access, and related items).
  • Follow up with new employees and supervisors to support successful integration.
  • Act as an initial HR point of contact for workplace questions and concerns.
  • Assist the HR Manager with employee relations matters, investigations, and related documentation.
  • Maintain appropriate records related to attendance, performance, disciplinary actions, and other employee matters.
  • Support employees with benefit program questions, including new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, benefit changes, and annual open enrollment.
  • Maintain accurate benefit records by reviewing monthly invoicing and coordinating with benefit providers as needed.
  • Assist with the administration of bi-weekly payroll in ADP Workforce Now
    .
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files in the HRIS, processing employee status changes, transfers, promotions, job changes, and terminations.
  • Generate HR reports and support HR data analysis; coordinate and assist with employee training programs.
  • Assist with orientation, compliance, safety, leadership, and employee development programs.
  • Support administration of applicable federal and state employment requirements, including FMLA

    , unemployment claims, and other employment-related programs.
  • Help ensure company policies and practices, as well as the union contract, are interpreted and administered consistently.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and retention initiatives, including creating a monthly company-wide newsletter and coordinating employee events.
  • Provide backup support for other HR functions as needed, maintain current knowledge of HR practices and employment regulations, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 1 to 2 years of Human Resources experience (Human resources: 2 years required).
  • Working knowledge of fundamental HR principles and practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office
    , particularly Word and Excel
    .
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize HRIS and other HR technology.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional, approachable, and service-oriented demeanor; ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
