IT Support Technician – WVU Medicine
Responsibilities: Responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PC hardware and peripheral components. Installs and verifies correct operation of software packages, including operating systems and typical office programs. Provides training and technical assistance to end users. Identifies and resolves hardware, software, and operator problems. Performs basic‑to‑moderate hardware repairs and refers complex, vendor‑restricted, and warranty repairs to authorized service personnel.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate degree in Information Technology or a related technical field or two (2) years’ experience with personal computer hardware and software support.
- This position may require additional certification (to be provided by WVUHS Information Technology) whose completion will be required within four months of the training.
- Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in current position to qualify for promotion within IT.
- A+ Certification, CCNA, MCP, or MCSE.
- Workstation support including troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting end‑user hardware and software.
- Install and test end‑user computer hardware and software (PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, IP phones, mobile devices). Provide support for wired and wireless devices.
- Maintain technical expertise through continuous learning.
- Provide network support at the device level.
- Coordinate projects, document issues, assist with project cost control, and communicate status.
- Participate in team building and mentoring activities.
- Travel to WVUHS facilities or affiliated sites as required.
- Adhere to WVUHS policies and accept on‑call responsibilities as defined by department policy.
- When necessary, provide biomedical device support and maintenance.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
- Ability to respond quickly to visual and audible alarms generated by network monitoring systems.
