This position reports to Cluster Lead Counsel NEU and you will be based at the ABB office in Diegem. You join an open and informal organization where we say “you” and it’s every day “casual Friday”. The Benelux legal team consists of seven fellow lawyers, each caring for their part of the business. You report to the Division General Counsel.

In this role, you will work closely with the business, providing strategic legal advice and upholding the highest standards of integrity within ABB. Each day, you will ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. You will effectively manage legal risks and foster a culture of integrity across the organization.

The work model for the role is hybrid with some travel to ABB sites in Belgium and Luxembourg. This role contributes to the BeLux Electrification business.

• Providing end‑to‑end legal services and integrity advice to the Electrification business area in Belgium and Luxembourg.
• Reviewing and negotiating B2B sales contracts (both with private and public parties, as well as with distributors/wholesalers), drafting commercial agreements and other contractual terms in collaboration with relevant global and local business stakeholders and Legal and Integrity team members.
• Monitoring and managing legal affairs, including but not limited to litigations (incoming and outgoing claims) and activity reports.
• Taking a seat at the table on local strategic business matters, providing advice and proactively identifying risks, external threats, and opportunities to the company, and proposing appropriate strategies.
• Supporting local country fiduciary duties and good corporate governance, if applicable.
• Collaborating on global and cross‑country projects within the Legal & Integrity team and the business.

• LLM degree obtained in Belgium / Belgium qualified lawyer.
• 5 years PQE.
• Fluent in Flemish/Dutch, French and English.
• “Hands‑on” business partner attitude with a solution‑oriented mindset, especially coordinating with cross‑functional and cross‑country teams in complex transactions.
• Superior advocacy and communication skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in writing and orally, an aptitude for practical negotiation, the capability to think clearly and quickly under pressure, the composure to satisfy multiple and often competing interests and the ability to share lessons learned with teammates.
• Highest integrity and professionalism, and passion for excellence and quality.
• Ability to work in a complex international environment, experience working with different cultures and an open mind that champions diversity and inclusion.
• Experience in an engineering or industrial sector (desirable).
