Overview

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

The National Guard is the oldest component of the U.S. Armed Forces. Citizens join the Guard for collective defense, serving the nation, states, and local communities.

• Serves as Small Shop Chief: plans, organizes, and directs shop operations and maintenance program under general supervision.
• Manages shop workforce: assigns tasks, estimates manpower/equipment/material, and schedules shop work.
• Determines maintenance procedures, devises and maintains shop maintenance program plans and records, and troubleshoots without supervisory guidance.
• Implements safety regulatory requirements: ensures shop workers wear appropriate safety equipment and follow safety precautions.
• Participates in readiness preparations, inspections, evaluations, and mobilization/command support exercises.
• Performs the same level of work as performed within the unit.

• NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
• Excepted service position requiring military assignment in WV National Guard, and must be in place before effective date.
• Selectee must wear military uniform.
• Acceptance of excepted service position constitutes concurrence with employment requirements.
• Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must register under the Military Selective Service Act.
• Federal background investigation required.
• Probationary period may be required.
• Direct deposit mandatory.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must obtain and maintain satisfactory security clearance, and a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to assignment.
• Position covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment of the Gun Control Act.
• Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers.
• Irregular and/or overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements.
• Job duties may significantly impact environment.
