About the Opportunity This is an open position with First Energy Service Company, a subsidiary of First Energy Corp. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Maidsville, WV ONLY.The Director serves as an executive for a portion of the state’s 24/7/365 electric utility generation, managing a multifunctional unit comprised of maintenance and operational workforce. The role is responsible and accountable for the safe generation of electricity in the most cost-effective manner while meeting all regulatory and environmental standards.

This position provides leadership consistent with our core values and behaviors.  It leads, directs, and provides technical expertise and guidance to the operational groups managed, including essential personnel required to respond to and react to a variety of emergency / urgent situations.  Financial responsibilities include budget management including capital and O&M.  The director is accountable to provide solid leadership while ensuring actions and goals align with operational strategy.  

The director engages with public officials, suppliers, regulators, environmental groups, and customers to ensure First Energy continues to meet and/or exceed its objectives.  The role includes overseeing the execution of capital projects and managing outside contractors to provide necessary services.

Establish strategic working relationships with community partners, governmental officials and regional agencies.

Plan, organize, develop and monitor the performance of assigned managers, supervisors and staff, establish performance requirements and personal development targets, monitor performance and provide executive direction for performance improvement and development.

Plan, organize, control, integrate and evaluate the work of the operational and maintenance groups.

Ensure appropriate staffing levels and resources to ensure uninterrupted services.

Develop, implement and monitor work plans to achieve organizational mission, goals and performance measures.

Direct and prepare operational and multi-year capital scopes, budgets, and execution to ensure business unit targets are achieved. Oversee execution of continuous improvement program in support of maintaining and improving standards around safety, environmental compliance, Human Performance and reliability.

Operate generation facility in full compliance with applicable environmental and other regulatory requirements.
