Job Summary: The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day production activities within the hot rolling and scalping departments, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in the hot rolling processes and equipment, and a commitment to continuous improvement within hot rolling and cross department initiatives.

• Safety Management:
  • Champion a strong culture of following plant safety standards.
  • Conduct audits and correct non-compliant behaviors and situations.
• Quality Management:
  • Work hand in hand with department and site level quality team.
  • Participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Production Management:
  • Direct and coordinate all operations to meet production targets.
  • Monitor process parameters and KPIs to optimize process.
  • Ensure compliance with metallurgical and customer specifications.
• Leadership:
  • Supervise and mentor production foremen and shopfloor employees.
  • Develop training programs and KPIs to enhance employee skills.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Report out regular updates to Senior Management.
• Operational Efficiency:
  • Identify and implement lean manufacturing processes where needed.
  • Develop tools to determine mill availability and capacities.
  • Work hand in hand with maintenance department to prioritize jobs and time frames to complete them.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in aluminum rolling operations.
• At least 3 years of experience in leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of hot rolling processes and mill equipment.
• Proven track record in safety, quality, and process optimization.
• Excellent leadership, communications, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to pass pre-employment testing under specific area of discipline.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to a new environment.

• Scope:
  Responsible for the scalping and hot roll departments and all production activities within.
• Magnitude:
  Over 100 hourly employee organization.
• Communications:
  Work closely with Maintenance, EHS, Planning, and Quality.
• Challenges:
  Leadership under pressure; balancing throughput vs. quality, reliability vs. cost control.
