Maintenance Planner​/Storeroom

The Maintenance Planner at TAMKO Building Products is responsible for supporting the execution of maintenance work by ordering, receiving, planning, estimating, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance work orders. The primary role is to improve workforce productivity and work quality by eliminating potential delays and obstacles to efficient work execution and providing coordinated availability of resources at job sites. The Planner may also perform hands‑on work as needed.

• Evaluate and prioritize facility maintenance requirements and coordinate with Operations to schedule downtime activities and other work in the plant, including preparation, planning support, and allocation.
• Review notifications and work orders to ensure they are properly filled, discuss details with the originating department, and confirm that the work scope is clearly described and properly authorized.
• Improve maintenance effectiveness by eliminating delays and obstacles through proper planning, preparation, and scheduling.
• Analyze and plan all maintenance work orders into basic job steps, determine sequence relative to each step, and identify parts, equipment, materials, special tools, skills, and personnel required. Obtain drawings and sketches as needed.
• Maintain storeroom inventory (e.g., cycle counts), MOC, shipping or receiving parts, and kit all jobs.
• Troubleshoot and assist hands‑on with equipment issues.
• Communicate with Plant Engineers concerning areas to be maintained; recommend maintenance needs to Production and prepare a weekly forecast of major jobs.
• Maintain a backlog of work orders that can be scheduled, requiring equipment shutdown.
• Develop a file of standard plans for recurring repair jobs based on historical experience to simplify the planning process.
• Maintain a file for each critical process equipment, containing data, closed‑out work orders, PM checklists, drawings, correspondence, failure reports, modifications, and purchase requisitions.
• Ensure documentation and compliance with guarding, alignment, balancing, and lubrication standards.
• Review Lock‑Out‑Tag‑Out procedures assigned to Maintenance personnel at least annually and make changes and improvements as necessary.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum two years of related industrial maintenance experience and/or training preferred; at least one year of maintenance planning and/or leadership preferred; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Experience working in SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
• Knowledge of internet software, inventory software, manufacturing software, order processing systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
• Must be able to operate a forklift.
• Strong written communication skills.

• Must be able to position oneself to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or maintain heavy plant equipment, including climbing stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and stooping.
• Must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift heavier objects with assistance.
• Must work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, with dusts and fumes, chemicals, hot environments, electrical equipment, and in loud environments; must follow safety rules and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
