Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting our client with the appointment of an experienced Painter to join their production team.
This is a hands‑on role within a busy fabrication environment, playing a key part in delivering high‑quality protective coatings to structural steel components in line with drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
The RoleAs a Painter, you will be responsible for preparing and applying protective paint systems to structural steel, ensuring durability, quality, and compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:- Applying paints and protective coatings to structural steel and fabricated components
- Preparing steel surfaces through cleaning, blasting, and chemical treatment processes
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and paint schedules
- Operating spray equipment, brushes, and rollers to achieve consistent, high‑quality finishes
- Mixing and matching coatings to ensure colour accuracy and specification compliance
- Monitoring, cleaning, and maintaining painting and spraying equipment
- Safely operating overhead cranes when handling steel components
- Working in accordance with site health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- Experience as a Structural Steel Painter or in a similar industrial painting role
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Proven experience with surface preparation techniques, including blasting and pressure washing
- Good working knowledge of industrial paints, coatings, and application methods
- Experience using spray guns and associated painting equipment
- A strong focus on quality, safety, and attention to detail
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Experience using overhead cranes (advantageous)
- Reliable, punctual, and self‑motivated
- Able to work on own initiative within a production environment
- Willing to undertake on‑the‑job training to further develop skills and knowledge
