Summary

This position performs routine scheduled service activities primarily in the field on Gen‑Sets or for other commercial engine customers. Specific duties include changing fluids, filters, load bank testing, and advanced troubleshooting of generators at customer site locations.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties
  • Represents the company in a professional manner at all times while providing outstanding customer service that aligns with Enerflex visions and values.
  • Responsible for submitting accurate field service reports, expense reports, timesheets and other necessary paperwork daily.
  • Repairs and maintains electric generators, switch gear, electronic controls, diesel and gas engines including LPG.
  • Performs field service, repairs and installation of customers' equipment.
  • Operate Company service vehicle and applicable equipment to include lift trucks.
  • Maybe requested at times to perform in shop service or repairs on customers' equipment when applicable.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose customer complaints to determine the most effective or efficient repair using test equipment, electronic volt‑ohm meter, megometer, battery and starting analyzer, load banks, and trade tools.
  • Perform routine Level 1, 2 and 3 scheduled maintenance and inspection according to manufacturer's specification including removal of generator/engine set for repair or replacement.
  • Hook up rental generators following all applicable local, state, and federal codes, regulations and safety guidelines.
  • Inspections, repairs, services and start‑up load bank test requirements on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and services generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches and battery systems.
  • Applies proper engine technical skills in inspection, disassembly, assembly, diagnosis, and engine operating performance tests.
  • Identifies the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps, determine corrective action through inspection of failed parts.
  • Repairs and troubleshooting engines such as Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, MTU, Volvo, Cat and Waukesha.
  • Responsible for providing basic leadership and training to new Field Technicians.
  • Maintain and develop positive professional relationships with existing and potential customers.
  • Be available to participate in on call rotation for after‑hour calls as required.
  • Must recognize and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental rules and policies that are applicable to each location.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years' power generation field service work experience.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability and willingness to drive long distances.
  • Ability to lead, direct, motivate and supervise team members.
  • Possess a well‑round‐off knowledge of engine, generator, and operations; experience with Jenbacher, Waukesha, and Cat considered an asset.
  • Highly motivated and well organized.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Clean drivers abstract must be provided at time of hire.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly/frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and infrequently/occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and adverse outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
