Building Maintenance, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
Efficient, neat, and safe performance of all jobs assigned for the Weatherization process. Responsible for the care and minor maintenance of assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles. Will work in accordance with state and federal guidelines and regulations. This position supports the delivery and administration of energy efficiency services under multiple funding sources, including the Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program, the Weatherization Infrastructure Grant (BIL), and state-supported programs such as LIHEAP.
This position performs duties as assigned across programs, including field work, data collection, compliance support, and infrastructure-related activities. Funding for this position is provided through a combination of time-limited and ongoing grants, and work assignments may shift based on program needs. Accurate time tracking by funding source is required.
High School Diploma/GED/or documented work-related experience and years of experience.
Physical DemandsMust be able to perform and assist in the training of mandated Weatherization procedures that are listed in the annual contract between the West Virginia Development Office and our agency. You must be able to crawl, bend, climb on ladders (2 stories), work in tight areas insulating and air sealing attics, sidewalls, crawlspaces, and mobile home bellies. Carry, lift, and install doors, windows, drywall, insulation (30-pound bags).
Remove, cut, replace glass in windows and doors. Repair/replace, seal, and insulate ductwork in crawlspace's, basements, bellies, and/or attics when necessary. This work will require bending or crawling on knees ely and efficiently follow a work order prepared by a certified energy auditor. Must stand, sit, use hands, drive a vehicle, talk, hear, occasionally lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
Climb 2 story ladders, crawl under areas at least 18 inches high, and able to withstand pressure from demanding clients. Must be able to be taught or know how to safely operate tools and equipment necessary to complete the work. Ability to learn and perform all required testing procedures, installation codes and standards, and safety codes and regulations required.
