OverviewThe Dental Patient Service Representative is responsible for welcoming and assisting patients with scheduling of appointments, registering the patient, answering all incoming calls, collecting charges, taking complete and accurate messages, and documenting appropriately.
Responsibilities- Take complete and accurate messages, schedule appointments, register patients, answer all incoming calls, and collect charges for the office visit.
- Prepare patient records for dental visits and verify dental insurance and patient copays due at the visit.
- Enter all information accurately, including patient registration, encounter billing information, and changes in insurance information.
- Identify the appropriate appointment scheduling needs and provide confirmation calls.
- Assist in answering all incoming calls and taking accurate messages.
- Collect payments, obtain referrals to specialists, and schedule upcoming appointments when necessary.
- Provide reports of daily productivity and daily collections to the Practice Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Accurate data entry skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Minimum High School diploma or associate degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical terminology, diagnosis coding and billing procedure knowledge
- Experience with dental insurance and payment collections
- Candidates who do not meet all of the preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply
- General office environment. Must be able to operate a PC, answer multiple telephone lines, and take accurate written messages; verify all insurance coverages.
- Moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, sitting, bending, and stretching. Duties are performed on site.
- Part Time 20 Hours
- As determined with department hiring needs
- Must be available for overtime, including nights and weekends when necessary
- Must have exemplary customer service skills, including professional telephone manners and excellent oral communication for all levels of client interaction
